The Tree Men live in the kingdom of Arboria, among the forests on Mongo. They're ruled by Prince Barin and Princess Aura.
In "The Beast Men of Mongo", Flash Gordon and Dale Arden visit Arboria, and help the Tree Men fight off the vicious attacks of the Ape Men.
Different Versions[]
In the original Sunday strips the Tree Men appeared as a yellow-skinned and pointy-eared alien race with some asian or oriental features, similar to the Yellow Men of Ming the Merciless. Other aspects of their culture such as clothing seemingly were inspired by medieval british culture, especially the stereotypical "Robin Hood" look. In many later adaptions they were depicted as caucasian human looking.
The 2007 TV adaption of Flash Gordon named them the Verden.
2013 graphic novels Merciless: The Rise of Ming by Scott Beatty and Flash Gordon: Zeitgeist by Eric Trautmann again depicted them as pointy-eared alien race, much similar in appearance to the "Golden People of Mongo" but with a more ruddy-orange-bronze skintone and red eyes.
